BOV Challenge League: Six-point cushion for leaders Sliema

Sliema Wanderers moved six points clear on top the BOV Challenge League as they defeated Vittoriosa Stars 2-1 at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday. 

Miguel Ciantar put Vittoriosa ahead five minutes in the second half but Edmond Agius equalised four minutes later and Mark Scerri notched the winner twelve minutes from time. 

San Gwann came from behind to beat Marsaskala 2-1 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Adrian Carabott put Marsaskala ahead on the 20th but Tobi Akiti levelled matters on the hour and Kemokoh Toure notched the winner three minutes in added time. 

Zurrieq came from behind to beat Lija Athletic 5-1 at the Centenary Stadium. Duvan Mosquera Torres put Lija ahead on the 3rd minute but Joao Vitor de Oliveira Florencio equalised on the 28th. The Brazilian extended the lead for Zurrieq seven minutes in the second half and Ivan Bojovic made it 3-1 five minutes later. Joao Vitor de Oliveira Florencio completed his hat-trick on the 70th with the same player adding another one minute in added time.

A goal by Matthew Camilleri on the 29th minute handed Mtarfa a narrow win over Mqabba at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. 

In another match, Attard and Qrendi shared the spoils in a goalless draw at the Centenary Stadium.  

At the end of the first phase, Sliema lead the way with 47 points, followed by Naxxar on 41, Zejtun 33, Tarxien 32, Zurrieq 29 and Melita 26. In the relegation pool, Fgura lie on the 25-point mark, Marsa and Swieqi 24, St. Andrews 22, Lija 20, Attard 19, San Gwann 18, Marsaskala and Mqabba 15, Qrendi and Mtarfa 14 and Vittoriosa 10.
