Izibet FA Trophy: Birkirkara edge past Hamrun to secure semi-final spot

Birkirkara eliminated BOV Premier League leaders Hamrun Spartans from the quarter-finals of the Izibet FA Trophy, defeating them 1-0 at the National Stadium on Saturday.

The Stripes, who had defeated Nadur Youngsters 4-1 and Balzan on penalties in the previous rounds, therefore join Gzira United in the semi-finals and await the last two semi-finalists from the two quarter-finals in programme on Sunday. 

Birkirkara scored the all-important goal on 17 minutes when following a good run on the right flank, Paul Mbong managed to serve Enzo Daniel Cabrera who slotted the ball past goalkeeper Henry Bonello.
