Futsal: Zurrieq edge past Ta’ Xbiex

Żurrieq Futsal obtained the first win in the Enemed Futsal Premier League as they saw off Ta’ Xbiex 3-2.

Żurrieq were determined to get something from this match which was also their last game in this category as they now move to the Challenger League after the new format adopted by the FMA.

Ta’ Xbiex surged ahead through Jonathan Oliveira dos Sants but Żurrieq restored parity through Jose Mario Mendes Fernandes. Veteran striker Boycho Marev made it 2-1 for Żurrieq although Karl Sciortino equalized for Ta’ Xbiex. Goalkeeper Norvic Deguara notched the winner for Żurrieq.

In another interesting encounter, Swieqi United edged University of Malta 5-4 in an electrifying encounter.

Colombian striker Brayan Stiven was in fine form as he netted a hat-trick with his compatriot Emerson Molina netting a brace. University of Malta scored through a Steven Camilleri hat-trick and another goal by Gia Nikvashvili.

In the Enemed Challenger League, Marsaskala didn’t find the going easy as they edged Malta U19 7-6.

David Sebastian Jimenez scored a hat-trick for the Sea Southsiders while Jose Leite Lopes and Amir Ashtiyani netted a brace. Malta U19 had David Nathan Balzan and Amir Louati scoring a bracw with Mason Agius and Denzel Camilleri also putting their names on the score sheet.
