Enemed Futsal League play-offs get underway this week

The second round of the Enemed Futsal League came to an end last week and Luxol, Ta’ Xbiex, University of Malta and Swieqi United are now set for the final four play-offs.

Champions Luxol take on the University of Malta while Swieqi United will face Ta’ Xbiex in a two-legged semi-final.

In their last match, Luxol beat Swieqi 4-3 in a very intense and nail-biting encounter.

Captain Mark Zammit scored twice while Maicon and Celino Alves scoring the other two goals. Justin Theuma scored twice for Swieqi with Dylan Pirotta adding another.

Referees: Andrea Naudi, Jude Amin Utulu, Jonathan Balzan.

University of Malta prepared in the best possible way for the play-offs as they beat Ta’ Xbiex with a massive 8-1 scoreline.

As the score clearly indicates, UoM dominated this encounter, especially during the first half.

Gia Nikvashvili scored a hat-trick, Mohammed Elamari and Aaron Montebello scored two goals each with Leo Muscat scoring the other goal. Ta’ Xbiex scored the consolation goal through Dale Valletta.

From the Enemed Challenger League, Maltese U19 thumped Fgura United 10-0.

The Maltese youths were in a class of their own as they also achieved their biggest victory during this season. Ivin Gatt scored a hat-trick, Amin Louati and Shiraz Attard scored a double while Collin Sammut and Nathan Balzan also helped their team with one goal in this wonderful victory.

St George’s secured the first place in the table at the end of the second round after beating Marsaskala 6-4 in the direct clash. Vuk Rankovic and Karl Luke Schembri scored a double each with Claudio Venuto and Matthew Scicluna adding more goals for the Saints. An Amir Ashtiyani double and goals by Matthias Camilleri and Ismael Tabone kept the Southsiders in the game.
