Kei Sano puts Sirens closer to safety

Kei Sano scored twice as Sirens came from behind to defeat Santa Lucia 2-1 at the National Stadium on Sunday to practically secure their Premier League status.

In fact, with four matches to go, Sirens are fifth from bottom on 25 points, eleven ahead of Zebbug and fourteen ahead of Santa Lucia.

Santa Lucia, on the other hand, only have themselves to blame for failing to earn something from this game to stay second from bottom, three points behind Zebbug.

Santa Lucia took the lead on the 11th minute when off a Robert Hehedosh corner, goalkeeper Andrea Cassar saved partially with ball bouncing onto Adrian Borg and Liam Ayad hit home from close range.

Kei Sano was unlucky to hit the crossbar with a powerful drive but just before half-time, Kei Sano headed the ball home off a Ricardo Correa freekick from the right.

Ricardo Correa hit the crossbar with a shot from outside the area early in the second half and then Yevhenii Terzi had a shot from inside the area blocked by Andrea Cassar onto the crossbar.

However three minutes from time Sirens notched the winner once again thanks to Kei Sano who managed to lob the ball over goalkeeper Dylan Ciappara when sent through on the right.
