After collecting just three points from the first eight matches thanks to three draws, Santa Lucia registered their first win as they beat Mosta 1-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.
A win which enables them to leapfrog Gudja United and move third from bottom on six points. Mosta, on the other hand, suffer a second consecutive defeat to stay joint-fourth from bottom.
Santa Lucia scored the all-important goal on the 21st minute when off an assist from the right, Adam Bradshaw controlled the ball and beat goalkeeper Akpan with a fine shot from inside the area.
Ten minutes from time, Mosta were reduced to ten men after Sasha Cachia received two yellow cards in quick succession.
