Valletta notch late equaliser against Sliema

Valletta scored six minutes in added time to rescue a point in a 1-1 draw with Sliema Wanderers in a match from the YoHealth Malta Premier Opening Round league phase at the National Stadium on Sunday.

The Citizens, therefore maintained their unbeaten run with a third draw in five matches and now share third place with Hamrun Spartans and Marsaxlokk on nine points, one behind Floriana and two behind Hibernians.

The Wanderers, on the other hand, drop two points in the dying minutes, just as they did in the 2-2 draw with Birkirkara on Tuesday.  They are now sixth on eight points.

Following a goalless first half, Sliema Wanderers took the lead on 61 minutes thanks to Sulahmana Mamadu Bah who beat goalkeeper Adilson Maringa with an angled shot.

However, six minutes in added time, Evandro Gomes slotted the ball past goalkeeper Rashed Al Tumi following a cross from the right by Shaft Brewer.
