Attard registered a second win in he BOV Amateur League I as they defeated Mqabba 2-1 at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday to take sole leadership.
Precious Uchechukwu Nwankwo put Attard ahead on 59 mintues and Nick Ghio doubled the score on 75 minutes. Saturday Nanapere pulled one back two minutes from time.
At the Sirens Stadium, Qrendi registered an impressive 6-2 win over Senglea Athletic.
Brandon Bray handed Qrenddi a two-goal lead as he scored on 27 and 34 minutes. An own goal extended the lead on 53 minutes and Joseph Jojo Ogunnupe made it 4-0 on 57 minutes. Timothy Thomas converted a penalty on 64 minutes and scored another goal on 81 minutes but Qrendi hit back with goals by James Nathan Lima on 82 minutes and GIllmore Azopardi six minutes in added time.
Kirkop United defeated Luqa St. Andrew’s 5-2 at the Charles Abela Stadium.
James Oghenekewaro converted a penalty on 39 minutes and five minutes later, Daryl Vella Gerada doubled the score. Seydna Dicko made it 3-0 on 55 minutes and wo minutes later, Miguel Zammit scored a fourth goal. Andreas Psaila reduced the gap on 69 minutes and after Dicko added another goal for Kirkop on 70 minutes, Psaila scored a second goal for Luqa on 81 minutes.
Qormi came from behind to beat Victoria Hotspurs 3-1 at the Centenary Stadium.
Kurt Borg put the Hotspurs ahead on 3 minutes but Liam Mckay equalised four minutes from the end of the first half and in added time, Kieran Paul Fenech put them ahead. David Emmanuel Garba sealed the issue with a third goal on 58 minutes.
A brae by Adam Falzon on 19 and 74 minutes and a goal by Jake Grech on 90 minutes handed San Gwann a 3-0 win over Pembroke Athleta at the Sirens Stadium.
Zejtun Corinthians turned defeat into victory as they beat Lija Athletic 2-1 at the Charles Abela Stadium. Erjon Beu put Lija ahead on 37 minutes but Stefi Cale converted a penalty on 59 minutes to level matters and went on to notch the winner on 72 minutes.
On the other hand, Sean Schranz notched a hat-trick as Mellieha defeated Xghajra Tornados by the odd goal in five. Schranz put Mellieha ahead on 17 minutes but although, Shaban Chikh Ali scored twice for Xghajra on 45 and 52 minutes, Schranz scored another two goals for Mellieha on 78 and 90 minutes.
Attard lead the way with 6 points, followed by Qrendi, Kirkop and Zjtun on 4, Qormi, Victoria, San Gwann, Mqabba, Senglea and Mellieha 3, LIja, Xghajra and Luqa 1 and Pembroke 0.
