Msida St. Joseph moved back in second place as they defeated Rabat Ajax 2-1 at the Charles Abela Stadium in a match from the BOV Amateur League II on Sunday.
Deemer Cutajar put Msida ahead on 29 minutes and Daniel Calleja doubled the score just before the end of the first half. Rabat reduced the gap thanks to Andy Paul Camilleri on 82 minutes.
Ta’ Xbiex defeated Gharghur 3-1 in another match at the Charles Abela Stadium. Antoine Attard put Ta’ Xbiex ahead after just two minutes. Andre Joe Cutajar converted a penalty on 11 minutes and an own goal put them three goals ahead on 42 minutes. Shamisen Farrugia scored a consolation goal for Gharghur in added time before the end of the first half.
Siggiewi were held in a 1-1 draw by St. George’s at the Sirens Stadium. Juan Artiaga put Siggiewi ahead on 62 minutes but Kenneth Aquilina equalised five minutes in added time.
At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Marsaskala beat Sta. Venera Lightnings 5-1. Vivi-Gaetan Mahop handed Marsaskala the lead after just six minutes and Byron Madu doubled the score on 29 minutes. Ayrton Buhagiar reduced the gap on 37 minutes. However, another goal by Madu on 70 minutes and brace by Diego Zammit on 82 and 86 minutes extended the lead for the Southseasiders.
Kalkara lead the way with 30 points, followed by Msida on 23, Dingli 22, Ta’ Xbiex 21, Mdina 18, Rabat and Siggiewi 16, St. George’s 12, Marsaskala, Gharghur and Ghaxaq 8 and Sta. Venera 3.
