A goal by Luca Gatt on 70 minutes handed Pieta’ Hotspurs a narrow win over Fgura United in a match from the BOV Challenge League at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday.
Swieqi United beat Zurrieq 3-1 at the Centenary Stadium. Salam Kojo Mawuena put Swieqi ahead on 2 minutes and eight minutes later, Emmanuel Asante converted a penalty. Asante extended the lead on 57 minutes but Wyatt Jon Harding reduced the gap for Zurrieq on 70 minutes.
Mgarr United defeated Mtarfa 3-1 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium as Cristhyan put them ahead on 19 minutes and although Ognjen Ilic equalised on 35 minutes, Cristhyan added another on 62 minutes and Terence Vella added another on 74 minutes.
On the other hand, Marsa and Santa Lucia shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw at the Centenary Stadium, goals by Matthias Vella on 6 minutes and 55 minutes – the second being a penalty – for Santa Lucia; Klose Azzopardi Conti on 13 minutes and Gianluca Bugeja on 56 minutes for Marsa.
Balzan lead the way with 29 points, followed by Birzebbuga on 28, Melita 25, Fgura 22, Sirens, Mgarr, Swieqi and Gudja 20, St. Andrews 19, Pieta’ 17, Santa Lucia 14, Zurrieq 13, Vittoriosa 10, Marsa 7, Zebbug 2 and Mtarfa -2.
