BOV Amateur League I: Attard move seven points clear

Attard moved seven points clear in the BOV Amateur League I as a goal by Precious Uchechukwu Nwankwo four minutes in the second half handed them a narrow win in the top of the table clash at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday. 

LIja Athletic move second thanks to a 1-0 win over Mellieha at the Luxol Stadium. Omar Khatib scored the only goal on 68 minutes. 

Goals by Ferdinando Apap on 20 minutes, Rondinely on 26 minutes and Christian Mercieca on 41 minutes handed Victoria Hotspurs a 3-0 win over San Gwann at the Sirens Stadium to move third. 

Mqabba defeated Xghajra Tornados 3-0 thanks to goals by Jeremy Busuttil on 11 minutes, Luka Mijic just before the end of the first half and Jeremy Delmar two minutes from time. 

Nigel Scerri scored twice as Senglea Athletic defeated Kirkop United 2-0 at the Centenary Stadium. Scerri scored on 70 and 71 minutes.   

Zejtun Corinthians came from behind to beat Luqa St. Andrew’s 2-1 at the Sirens Stadium.  Bledi Alla put Luqa ahead on 28 minutes but Stefi Cale converted a penalty to level matters four minutes in the second half and Adrian Carabott notched the winner four minutes from time. 

Meanwhile in another match at the Luxol Stadium, Qrendi defeated Pembroke Athleta 5-2. Lucas Gomes put Pembroke ahead on 15 minutes and Samuel Saldanha equalised on 27 minutes. Weverton restored the lead for Pembroke on 32 minutes but Saldanha scored again on 38 minutes, turning the score in Qrendi’s favour just before the end of the first half. Joseph JoJo Ogunnupe scored on 75 minutes to extend the lead with Saldanha scoring his fourth on 76 minutes.
