Marsaxlokk and Naxxar Lions shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw in a match from the YoHealth Malta Premier Closing Round league phase at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.
While this draw puts Marsaxlokk in third place, Naxxar are now sixth on 15 points, one behind Valletta, two ahead of Sliema Wanderers and three ahead of Birkirkara. To secure a Top 6 finish, Winston Muscat’s side needs a win over Hibernians or in case of a draw that Sliema and Birkirkara fail to beat Gzira United and Floriana respectively.
Louis Pahama put the Lions ahead on 19 minutes but Gustavo Campos was sent off five minutes from the end of the first half after receiving a second yellow card. Dodo levelled matters for Marsaxlokk on 66 minutes and four minutes later, Dodo had a penalty turned into a corner by Naxxar goalkeeper Matthias Debono.
