Victoria Hotspurs narrowed the gap with leaders Attard to five points as they defeated Lija Athletic 5-0 in a match from the BOV Amateur League I at the Centenary Stadium on Saturday.
Rondinely put the Hotspurs ahead on 25 minutes. Six minutes in the second half, Christian Mercieca doubled the score and seven minutes later, Shaun Attard made it 3-0. Mercieca scored again on 63 minutes with Rondinely adding another on 77 minutes.
At the Charles Abela Stadium, Qormi beat Pembroke Athleta 2-1. Kieran Paul Fenech put Qormi ahead on 3 minutes and Ayrton Azzopardi converted a penalty on 15 minutes. Kyle Sciberras Balbi pulled one back on 56 minutes.
Goals by Andres Tenorio on 27 and 78 minutes, Jeremy Busuttil on the half hour and two goals by Luka Mijic – one just before the end of the first half and a penalty on 70 minutes handed Mqabba a most comfortable 5-0 win over San Gwann at the Centenary Stadium.
Mellieha defeated Qrendi 3-1 at the Charles Abela Stadium thanks to goals by Leon Theuma on 53 and 57 minutes and David Azzopardi on 78 minutes with Brandon Bray reducing the gap on 79 minutes.
On the other hand, a goal by Dale Tabone five minutes in the second half handed Kirkop United a narrow win over Zejtun Corinthians at the Centenary Stadium.
Attard lead the way with 50 points, followed by Victoria Hotspurs on 45, Qormi 43, Mqabba 40, Lija 39, San Gwann 27, Qrendi 25, Kirkop 24, Senglea, Mellieha, Zejtun and Pembroke 21, Luqa 20 and Xghajra 19.
