The Malta Football Association (Malta FA) wishes to clarify the current position regarding the Meridianbet FA Trophy semi-final fixtures.
The official competition calendar, including the dates for the semi-finals, was published in August 2025 and has been available to all participating clubs since that time.
Following recent requests submitted by Valletta FC and Gżira United FC to postpone the scheduled semi-final matches, the Malta FA engaged in discussions with all clubs involved, providing them with the opportunity to reach a mutually acceptable agreement.
Despite these efforts and open dialogue, no agreement could be reached between the clubs.
In light of this outcome, and in accordance with the established regulations and the previously published competition calendar, the Malta FA has confirmed that the semi-final fixtures will proceed as originally scheduled.
It is an established practice of the MFA that when fixtures are published, for Integrity and FairPlay, it will only consider a fixture change if mutually agreed by all parties. Unfortunately on this occasion, no such agreement could be reached.
