Dingli Swallows and Msida St. Joseph continued battling for promotion as they both registered wins in the BOV Amateur League II on Sunday.
At the Victor Tedesco Stadium, Dingli Swallows beat Gharghur 4-1. Ronaldinho Daley handed Dingli the lead on 21 minutes and Jurgen Gerada doubled the score a minute later. Gerada made it 3-0 on 51 minutes and three minutes later, Daley added another. Dante Camilleri pulled one back on 87 minutes.
On the other hand, at the Sirens Stadium, Msida St. Joseph defeated champions Kalkara United 2-1. Taiwo David Akindele put Msida ahead on 31 minutes and Llywelyn Cremona doubled the score on the hour. Luke Farrugia reduced the gap on 77 minutes.
Mdina Knights, on the other hand, lost 2-3 to Santa Venera Lightnings at the Sirens Stadium. Ayrton Buhagiar put the Lightnings ahead on 25 minutes and Desire Koiba doubled the score on 41 minutes. Jordan Vella reduced the gap just before the end of the first half but Kobe made it 3-1 on 57 minutes. Isaac Spiteri scored a second goal for Mdina on 79 minutes.
Ta’ Xbiex defeated St. George’s 3-1 at the Charles Abela Stadium. Aaron Mizzi opened the score on 34 minutes and Neil Borg made it 2-0 for Ta’ Xbiex. Jaden Camilleri reduced the gap on 75 minutes but Timothy Thomas sealed the issue with a third goal five minutes from time.
At the Sirens Stadium, Siggiewi defeated Ghaxaq 4-1. Edward Bugeja put Siggiewi ahead on 18 minutes and although Ian Muscat equalised on 27 minutes, Tyrone Grech restored the lead for Siggiewi on 32 minutes. Roderick Taliana extended the lead on 74 minutes and Juan Artiaga added another on 92 minutes.
Rabat Ajax returned to winning ways as they defeated Marsaskala 3-0 at the Charles Abela Stadium. Zachary Tanti put Rabat ahead on 19 minutes. Victor Ifeanyi Mbata doubled the score on 79 minutes and five minutes later, Tanti added another for Rabat.
