Hamrun Spartans suffered a third successive defeat as a goal ten minutes in added time handed Gzira United a narrow win in a match from the YoHealth Malta Premier Closing Round Top 6 at the National Stadium on Wednesday.
The Spartans, therefore, lose further ground with leaders Floriana as the Greens could move nine points clear should they beat Marsaxlokk later on Wednesday.
The Maroons, on the other hand, register their first win in the Top 6 to move one point behind Valletta and two behind the Spartans and Marsaxlokk.
Gzira scored the all-important goal ten minutes in added time when Brooklyn Borg sent Maxuell Samurai through and the latter advanced al along before slotting the ball past goalkeeper Henry Bonello.
