Zabbar St. Patrick scored twice in the second half of extra-time to beat Tarxien Rainbows 2-0 in the YoHealth Malta Premier Relegation Play-Offs at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday to secure their Malta Premier status and condemn the Rainbows to playing in the Challenge League next season.
Tarxien Rainbows had ended the Opening Round at the bottom of the table but had escaped automatic relegation after defeating Zabbar 3-2 after extra-time in a decider for the 10th and 11th place on Tuesday.
There was nothing to separate the two teams in the ninety minutes of regular time and therefore the match went into extra-time and after the result remained scoreless by the end of the first half of extra-time, Zabbar scored twice in the second half of extra-time.
Ayom Majok put Zabbar ahead on 108 minutes after receiving an assist from the right and on 117 minutes, Zabbar doubled the score thanks to a Mario Fontanella penalty.
In added time, Tarxien had Claudio Murici sent off.
