Hamrun Spartans continued to strengthen their squad with the signing of Brazilian winger Marcelinho.
Marcelo Cauã de Aguiar Alves played for Fluminense, Atletico GOianiense, Hercilio Luz, Sobradinho, Nautico, Comercial, Pouso Alehre and America RJ in Brazil.
The Spartans, who have appointed Stefano Sanderra as their new coach, had earlier signed Jake Grech, Ante Ćorić, Lucas Villela, Jack Ipalibo, Tobias Bjørnstad, Emmanuel Ernest and Messie Biatoumoussoka and renewed the contracts of Emerson Marcelina and Rafael Compri while confirming the departure of Henry Bonello and Joseph Mbong apart from Jonny, Mouad El Fanis, Blessing Eleke, Ivan Inzoudine and Michele Carboni.
