Rivals Floriana, Valletta cross swords in 40th edition of BOV Super Cup

Floriana and Valletta will be aiming to lift the first major honour for season 2026/27 as they face each other in the 40th edition of the BOV Super Cup at the National Stadium on Monday, kick-off at 19:00.

The Greens won the YoHealth Malta Premier last season while the Citizens claimed the Meridianbet FA Trophy, apart from the Malta FA Jubilee Cup.

Winning the BOV Super Cup against their eternal rivals is definitely something both sides will be aiming for apart from making a clear statement of intent for their ambitions for this season.

Valletta won the Super Cup thirteen times – the last time in 2019. Floriana, on the other hand, won the Super Cup twice – in 1993 when they had defeated Valletta 4-1 and in 2017.

This season, Floriana were eliminated by Shamrock Rovers from the UEFA Champions League and by FC Drita from the UEFA Conference League before starting their VBET Malta Premier with back-to-back wins over Birzebbuga St. Peter’s and Sliema Wanderers and following a 1-1 draw with Hamrun Spartans, they defeated Gzira United 4-1.

Valletta, on the other hand, were eliminated from the UEFA Conference League by RKS Rakow Czestochowa and started their league campaign with two wins over Zababr St. Patrick and Gzira United. Following a defeat to Marsaxlokk, they bounced back with a 2-0 win over Hibernians.
