Rabat Ajax defeated Msida St. Joseph 3-0 at the Centenary Stadium in one of the matches from the BOV National League on Sunday.
Cadu put the Magpies ahead on 21 minutes and two goals by Isaac Abela on 79 and 88 minutes sealed the issue for Jesmond Zammit’s side.
At the Sirens Stadium, Zejtun Corinthians scored four in the second half as they defeated neighbours Marsaskala 4-0. Samuel Saldanha opened the scoring on 47 minutes and three minutes later, Randon Caruana doubled the score. Saldanha added another on 57 minutes with Matthew Farrugia scoring Zejtun’s fourth on 69 minutes.
At the Luxol Stadium, Gharghur defeated Xghajra Tornados 4-2. Joshua Micallef converted a penalty to put Gharghur ahead on 9 minutes but Redheil Stivala equalised on 17 minutes. A penalty by Hassan Jamiu Temilola restored the lead for Gharghur on 66 minutes and although Gilmor Zammit Plum restored equilibrium on 76 minutes, goals by Peter Pedro Axisa on 88 minutes and Hassan Jamiu Temilola two minutes in added time handed Gharghur the three points.
Ghaxaq beat Sta. Venera Lightnings 3-1 at the Sirens Stadium. Saturday Nanapere put Ghaxaq ahead on 14 minutes and Andre Joe Cutajar doubled the score three minutes later. Desire Koiba reduced the gap on 53 minutes but Sven Farrugia made it 3-1 on 69 minutes.
In another match, Ta’ Xbiex defeated Mdina Knights 2-1, goals by Warren Azzopardi on 31 minutes and Jake Chetcuti on 93 minutes for Ta’ Xbiex and Melchior Tonna on 63 minutes for Mdina.
Rabat and Zejtun lead the way with 6 points, followed by Gharghur and Ta’ Xbiex on 4, Kirkop, Xghajra and Ghaxaq 3, St. George;s, Luqa, Siggiewi and Santa Venera 1, Msida, Marsaskala and Mdina 0.
