Birzebbuga St. Peter’s registered their first win in the VBET Malta Premier Opening Round league phase as they defeated Marsaxlokk 2-0 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Wednesday.
The Saints join Gzira United on the four-point mark but the Maroons have a game in hand.
Marsaxlokk, therefore, suffered their second defeat this season – the second defeat in four matches to miss the opportunity to move back on top ahead of the clash between Valletta and Mosta.
Following a goalless first half, Birzebbuga took the lead thanks to Alex Bruno three minutes in the second half.
Gabriel Costa doubled the score on 70 minutes.
