Balzan secured the services of twenty five year old attacking midfielder Christian Mercieca.

A product of Oratory Youths, Mercieca had spells at Sliema Wanderers at youth level. he moved to Victoria Hotspurs before joining Hamrun Spartans last season.

Balzan had earlier appointed Oliver Spiteri as their new coach and signed Jonathan Debono, Aidan Friggieri, Luca Mallia, Angel Yesid Torres Quinones, Diver Duvan Torres Quiñónes and Matheus Nogueira Albuquerque de Souza.
