Third Division side Kalkara strengthen their squad

kalkarafcThird Division side Kalkara strengthened their squad with the signing of a number of highly experienced players as they prepare to kick-off their BOV Third Division commitments this weekend against Dingli Swallows.

The club secured the services of Simon Aquilina who played for St. George’s, Julian Briffa formerly of Zurrieq, Terence Scerri, Tyrone Thomas, Christopher Cuschieri and Erin Azzopardi who played for Senglea, Timothy Thomas and Nigerian striker Benjamin Dalatu Ayuba who played for Marsa, Ryan Sell and Reuben Vella who played for Gharghur, Matthew Schembri formerly of Gudja, Julian Spiteri who played for St Patrick, Jonathan Xerri formerly of Zebbug Rangers and goalkeeper Mark Vella who played for San Gwann. The nucleus of club players such as Matthew Cassar, Jacob and Stefan Camilleri, Andrea Hammett, Victor Fiteni and goalkeeper Danny Scicluna will play once again for the club.

Trevor Thomas has been appointed as the new coach after acting as assistant coach at Gudja United last year.

While addressing a press conference at the Kalkara Ground, president James Camilleri thanked the club’s main sponsor Sandro Vella of St Catherine Caterers thanks to whom, the club was able to strengthen the squad. He thanked XPH Malta – an Italian company offering cargo handling services to several airlines, including Alitalia and Turkish Airlines, who signed a three-year deal with the club. A three-year technical partnership was signed with Eurosport.

Other sponsors include Libyan businessman Mohammed Busefi and Re/Max Professionals while MJK Transport sponsored the uniforms for the club officials, coaching staff and players and two sets of training kits for the players.
