The Citizens registered two narrow wins over Mosta and Senglea and a win on Sunday would put them on level points with Gzira United. Naxxar, on the other hand, are still chasing their first points after losing 0-2 to Balzan and 1-5 to Sliema Wanderers.
New technical director Stuart Watkiss will be hoping to lead Naxxar to a first positive result after they strengthened the squad with the signing of Austrian goalkeeper Christoph Nicht, Senegalese centre-back Ndoye Elhadji Ousseynou and Englishman Scott Fenwick.
Meanwhile in a clash between the two other newly-promoted sides, Lija Athletic and Senglea Athletic both aim at registering their first win.
Senglea earned a point in a draw with Sliema Wanderers before losing narrowly to Valletta. Lija, on the other hand, lost 0-4 to Gzira and 1-3 to Mosta
Senglea signed another two Argentine players – Gonzalo Leyton and Gonzalo Virano who could make their debut on Sunday.
