Naxxar Lions returned to winning ways as they defeated Valletta 2-1 at the National Stadium on Sunday.
The Lions move sixth, one point behind Marsaxlokk and Birkirkara and one ahead of Hibernians while Valletta continue to share the fourth place from bottom with Gzira and Mosta.
Naxxar had a perfect start, taking the lead on the 5th minute when off a cross by Maicon from the right, two players failed to connect by Takuma Yamaguchi slotted the ball past goalkeeper Jake Galea. ,
On the 31st minute, Naxxar doubled the score thanks to Edson Cerqueira Farias who beat Galea following an assist by Pablo Augusto.
Valletta pulled one back three minutes in the second half with a Federico Falcone header off a cross by Federico Vega from the right.
