BOV Challenge League: Senglea, Fgura share spoils in 3-3 draw

Fgura United came back from three goals down to rescue a point in a 3-3 draw with Senglea Athletic in a match from the BOV Challenge League at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Sunday.

An own goal put Senglea ahead on the 18th and four minutes later, Christian Degabriele doubled the score with Alilu Issaka making it 3-0 just before half-time. However Johan Alberto Castano converted a penalty on the 66th and two minutes later, Miguel Tabone scored a second goal for Fgura. Johan Alberto Castano equalised seven minutes from time.

Melita defeated Swieqi United 4-1 at the Centenary Stadium. Matthew Debattista handed Melita the lead on the 6th and an own goal enabled them to double the score two minutes later. Sammy Elfarsi reduced the gap on the 34th but Debattista scored again for Melita two minutes later with Karl Mohnani adding another one minute from the end of the first half.

Tarxien Rainbows returned to winning ways thanks to a 3-0 win over St. Andrews at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Matthew Spiteri opened the score for Tarxien on the 16th minute. Peter Paul Sammut doubled the scoring three minutes in the second half and Peter Xuereb sealed the issue with a third goal six minutes from time.

Zurrieq claimed three important points in a 2-1 win over Marsa at the Centenary Stadium. Following a goalless first half, Glamour Eziefula Chibueze put Zurrieq ahead on the 56th and Christopher Baker doubled the score seven minutes later. Dylan Agius converted a penalty eight minutes from time to reduce the gap for Marsa.

Zabbar lead the way with 29 points, followed by Melita on 27, Pieta’ 24, Fgura and Zurrieq 23, Senglea and Lija 20, Marsa 19, Swieqi 16, Tarxien 15, Zejtun 12, Luqa 10, Zebbug 9, Attard and Msida 6 and St. Andrews 5.
