B’Kara move three points clear as Sliema beat Valletta

Birkirkara moved three points clear on top the BOV Premier League table as they defeated Hibernians 2-1 and Valletta were beaten with the same score by Sliema Wanderers.

The Stripes now lead the table with 29 points, followed by Valletta on 26, Qormi and Sliema Wanderers on 21.

Msida take on Floriana in do-or-die clash

Msida St. Joseph and Floriana cross swords in what could be considered as an almost decisive game against relegation at the Hibernians Stadium on Sunday. Three points separate the two teams with Floriana lying on the 12-points mark and Msida on 9.

The first game in programme is another Relegation Pool clash between Dingli Swallows and Hamrun Spartans.

Balzan Youths move second

Balzan Youths moved second in the BOV First Division after defeating St. Patrick 2-0. On the other hand, Vittoriosa Stars were held in a 1-1 draw by Pietà Hotspurs.

Marsaxlokk, who have a game in hand, lead the way with 27 points, followed by Balzan Youths on 25 and Vittoriosa on 24.

On Sunday, Mosta take on leaders Marsaxlokk while St. George’s face Mqabba. Melita meet San Gwann on Monday.

Qormi back to winning ways

After suffering three consecutive defeats in their last three outings, Qormi returned to winning ways as they defeated Tarxien Rainbows 2-0.

The Yellows, who lacked the suspended Jonathan Bondin with Matthew Bartolo and Ryan Deguara starting on the bench, were clearly the better side throughout the ninety minutes. Anderson Mendes Ribeiro was missing for Tarxien.

Another two Premier League players suspended

Another two Premier League players were banned for one-match by the MFA Disciplinary Commissioner on Friday. The two players are Carlo Mamo of Birkirkara and Jonathan Bondin of Qormi.

Mamo is ruled out of the clash with Hibernians while Bondin will be missing the game against Tarxien on Friday.
