Comfortable win for Valletta over Sliema

BOV-Premier-LeagueChampions Valletta bounced back from the defeat to Hibernians with a most comfortable 5-0 win over Sliema Wanderers. The Citizens scored four in the first half, adding another one after the break.

For the Wanderers, this was yet another disappointing result as they continue to chase their first win after five matches.

BOV Division 1: Gudja United hit five past Mqabba

BOV-First-DivisionGudja United registered another comfortable win in the BOV First Division as they beat Mqabba 5-1 in one of the four matches in programme on Sunday.

A brace by Adrian Carabott on the 2nd and the 8th paved the way for Gudja who increased the lead through a brace by Angelo Catania on the 16th and three minutes in added time in the first half. Peter Paul Sammut made it 5-0 one minute from time with Guilherme de Soares Freitas scoring a consolation goal for Mqabba on the 90th.

Pembroke Athleta rescued a point in a 1-1 draw with Fgura United thanks to a goal by Lucky Omerou two minutes from time after Ryan Previ had put Fgura ahead after just three minutes.

BOV Division 2: Second win for Hamrun Spartans, Senglea Athletic

BOV-Second-DivisionHamrun Spartans scored three in the second half as they registered their second win in the BOV Second Division, beating Swieqi United 3-0.

Alan Tabone converted a penalty on 57 minutes to put Hamrun ahead. Simon Shead doubled the score on 79 minutes with Ryan Spiteri sealing the issue with a third goal five minutes later.

Gharghur beat Ghaxaq 2-0 thanks to goals by Toraino Singleton on the 3rd minute and Nicky Zammit on 51 minutes.

Kaljevic keeps Mosta on track

BOV-Premier-LeagueMosta maintained their unbeaten run with a fourth win in five matches as a goal by Bojan Kaljevic enabled them to beat Balzan 1-0.

For Balzan, this was the first defeat after winning three of the first four matches and were coming from an impressive 3-2 win over Birkirkara.

Jorginho paves the way for fifth Hibernians win

BOV-Premier-LeagueJorge Pereira da Silva scored twice as Hibernians registered the fifth consecutive win, beating Pietà Hotspurs 3-1.

For the Hotspurs, this was the fourth defeat in five matches, remaining at the bottom of the table with just one point.

At the National Stadium, Birkirkara returned to winning ways as two late goals enabled them to beat Qormi 2-0.
