Changes in BOV First, Second and Third Division league fixtures for final games

MFAThe Malta Football Association announced changes in fixtures for BOV First Division, BOV Second Division and BOV Third Division matches as the three leagues come to an end this weekend.

In the BOV First Division, the championship and the third place are yet to be determined while in the BOV Second Division and the BOV Third Division, the championships will be decided in the final games.

In the BOV First Division, Melita vs St. Andrews and St. George’s vs Pembroke Athleta will be playing on Friday 24 at 19:30 at the Centenary Stadium and Luxol Stadium respectively. St. Andrews and Pembroke are battling for the championship while Melita and St. George’s are seeking third place.

Pietà, Naxxar share spoils in draw

BOV-Premier-LeaguePietà Hotspurs and Naxxar Lions earned a point each as they shared the spoils in a clash between two teams fighting against relegation.

The Hotspurs are now second from bottom on thirteen points, one ahead of bottom-placed Zebbug Rangers while Naxxar are fifth from bottom on nineteen points, two ahead of Tarxien and four ahead of Qormi.

BOV Division 1: Pembroke Athleta take sole leadership

BOV-First-DivisionWith one game to go, Pembroke Athleta moved two points clear of St. Andrews in the BOV First Division as they defeated Zurrieq with St. Andrews being held in a draw by St. George’s.

In their final league games next week, Pembroke and St. Andrews face two teams who are still chasing the third place and hence the Premier League play-off spot as Pembroke take on St. George’s and St. Andrews face neighbours Melita in the derby. Apart from Melita and St. George’s. Another two teams chasing the third place – Gudja United and Gzira United face Lija Athletic and Mqabba respectively.

Pembroke Athleta defeated Zurrieq 4-1. Following this result and Rabat’s win over Lija, Zurrieq were relegated to Division 2.

BOV Division 3: Kirkop join Mgarr on top

BOV-Third-DivisionKirkop United joined Mgarr United on top the BOV Third Division as they defeated Santa Lucia and Mgarr were held in a draw by Sta. Venera Lightnings. In their final matches next week, Kirkop will be facing Marsaskala and Mgarr take on Attard in the games which may determine which way will the championship go.

A goal in the 91st minute by Ryan Vella enabled Mgarr United to rescue a point in a 1-1 draw with St. Venera Lightnings after Andrew Hili had put the Lightnings ahead on the 43rd minute.

An early penalty by Michael Theuma after just three minutes paved the way for Kirkop as they beat Santa Lucia 3-1. Mohammed Senussi equalised on the 56th but Theuma scored again on the 75th before Kirsten Farrugia made it 3-1 on the 90th.

Stoppage-time goals put Birkirkara back in second place

BOV-Premier-LeagueBirkirkara scored twice in added time to beat Zebbug Rangers 3-1 and move back in second place in the BOV Premier League.

A goal towards the end of the first half had put the Stripes ahead but ten minutes from time, Zebbug equalised. A result which could have left them in third place. However two goals in added time handed them the three points. Meanwhile Zebbug remain at the bottom of the table with just twelve points.
