Comfortable win for Hibernians

Hibernians moved back in second place, four points behind leaders Valletta as they registered a comfortable 5-0 win over Hamrun Spartans.

The Paolites were comfortably in control right from the start, scoring two in the first half and adding another three after the break.

In the first game, Mqabba and Tarxien Rainbows earned a point each as they shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw.

Third-placed Hibernians host Hamrun Spartans in the second game.

BOV Division 1: Comfortable win for Naxxar

Naxxar Lions returned to winning ways in the BOV First Division as they defeated St. George’s 5-0. A win which puts Winston Muscat’s side in joint-sixth place together with Dingli Swallows.

Darren Falzon notched a hat-trick with Mattia Del Negro and Hallison Di Lima Siqueira scoring the other two goals.

In the second match, Zejtun Corinthians take on Pietà Hotspurs.

Qormi FC complex inaugurated

The Qormi FC Football Complex was officially inaugurated on Saturday by Parliamentary Secretary for Youth and Sport Clyde Puli and MFA President Norman Darmanin Demajo in the presence of Qormi FC president Redino Apap.

In a short speech, Clyde Puli said this football ground was one of thirty-three football grounds which were upgraded by the government in partnership with the Malta Football Association. The Parliamentary Secretary said this complex will continue to improve the potential of the Qormi FC players and the children attending the club’s nursery.

Wanderers hold Valletta in goalless draw — Narrow win keeps Greens on the right track

Just a week after defeating them 5-2 in the U*BET FA Trophy fourth round, Valletta were held in a goalless draw by Sliema Wanderers to drop two important points, allowing Floriana and possibly Hibernians to narrow the gap.

The Citizens now lead the way with 45 points, followed by Floriana on 39 and Hibernians on 38. The Paolites, however, have a game in hand. Sliema, on the other hand, join Balzan in fourth place, one point ahead of Birkirkara.

Meanwhile Floriana extended their positive run thanks to a narrow win over Birkirkara in a lacklustre encounter.
