Floriana moved second, one point behind leaders Hamrun Spartans, as they defeated Marsaxlokk 2-1 in a match from the 360 Sports Malta Premier Closing Round at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.
Marsaxlokk, who were leading the table till Saturday, are now sharing third place with Birkirkara, Sliema Wanderers and Hibernians, one point behind the Greens.
The game was delayed for twenty minutes and then for a further twenty minutes due to a waterlogged pitch but eventually kicked-off forty five minutes later than originally scheduled.
Floriana managed to take the lead on 16 minutes thanks to a direct freekick from the right by Gonzalo Gamarea which surprised goalkeeper Matthew Calleja Cremona.
Marsaxlokk equalised nine minutes from time thanks to Lucas Lopez who headed the ball home off a Leandro Aguirre freekick.
However Floriana regained the lead on 87 minutes thanks to Matias Garcia who hit home from close range after Elvis Mashike had a header blocked by a defender.
