The Malta Football Players Association, the Malta FA and clubs working towards changes in youth transfer regulations
In a statemwnt, the MFPA said its on-going campaign is solely motivated by their belief that football-loving children can’t be treated as financial commodities.
For years, the MFPA has been pushing for changes to the youth transfer regulations.
“We have been working discretely but decisively to tackle this issue.”
“Significant progress has been made and we are hopeful of reaching an agreement with the relevant stakeholders but the discussions are still active and on-going.”
“Changing the status quo requires a collective commitment and we are grateful to those who have been supporting us from day one, especially the parents of the youth player who had the courage to file a case with the Court Of Arbitration for Sport, and FIFPRO. Dr Adele Muscat’s insightful report on youth football has also been very useful.”
“We are also appreciative of the willingness being shown by the Malta Football Association and the clubs in our efforts to find a fair solution.”
“Finally, we would like to acknowledge the important role played by the media in devoting greater attention to this important subject in recent months.”
