Valletta came back from a goal down to beat Mosta 4-1 in a match from the YoHealth Malta Premier Opening Round league phase at the National Stadium on Wednesday.
Although Mosta managed to take the lead, Valletta were clearly the better side, being unlucky to hit the posts twice during the first half but then scored four in the second half to collect the three points. The Citizens join Hamrun Spartans in third place, one point behind Floriana and two behind leaders Hibernians. Mosta, on the other hand, remain fourth from bottom on four points as they suffer a fourth defeat in six matches.
Mosta took the lead on 20 minutes thanks to a diagonal shot from the left by Emmanuel Prince Chubuzor which beat goalkeeper Adilson Maringa.
Jefferson was unlucky to hit the upright twice for Valletta as the Citizens went all out in search of the equaliser.
Valletta finally managed to equalise on 63 minutes thanks to a long-distance Yuri freekick.
Ten minutes later, Sava Radic doubled the score, heading the ball home off a Jackson Mendoza corner from the right.
Substitute Andrea Zammit increased the lead on 79 minutes when he blocked an erratic clearance by goalkeeper Udoh David Akpan to place the ball at the back of the net.
Three minutes later, Akpan saved partially a Mendoza effort and Thaylor hit home from close range.
