Gzira United, led for the first time by Darren Abdilla, registered their first win in the YoHealth Malta Premier Opening Round league phase, as they defeated Mosta 4-3 at the Centenary Stadium on Thursday.
A win which puts the Maroons on level points with Zabbar St. Patrick on six points, one ahead of Tarxien Rainbows and two ahead of Naxxar Lions and Mosta. For Mosta, this was the sixth defeat in eight matches as they suffered a fourth consecutive defeat.
Emmanuel Prince Chibuzor put Mosta ahead on 26 minutes but Gzira turned the score in their favour with a brace by Andre on 38 and 41 minutes. Two minutes in the second half, Kante extended the lead for the Maroons and although Daniel GTA reduced the gap on 52 minutes, Luis Riascos made it 4-2 on 61 minutes. Substitute Zachary Brincat scored a third goal for Mosta on 68 minutes.
