Naxxar Lions FC announced that the club and coach George Vella had parted ways with mutual agreement.
Vella had joined the club in summer 2020, leading the club in three Challenge League campaigns, winning promotion to the Premier League at the end of season 2022/23. Following an impressive return to the Premier League, finishing joint-sixth in 2023/24, they escaped relegation with a win over Melita in a decisive play-off.
Naxxar currently share the bottom spot with Tarxien Rainbows on six points from thirteen matches thanks to a win over Sliema Wanderers and three draws.
