Valletta came back from two goals down to beat Naxxar Lions 4-2 in a match from the YoHealth Malta Premier Closing Round league phase at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.
The Citizens therefore returned to winning ways following the draw with Hamrun to join the Spartans on the seven point mark, two behind the leaders. Naxxar, on the other hand, suffer a second defeat in three matches.
Yeangel Montero put Naxxar ahead after just three minutes and Vitinho doubled the score on 31 minutes. Five minutes later, new signing Ahmed Adebayo reduced the gap for Valletta.
Adebayo levelled mattered for Valletta twelve minutes in the second half. Yuri Messias put Valletta 3-2 ahead on 59 minutes. Yuri sealed the issue with a penalty on 66 minutes.
