Valletta moved closer to securing a Top 6 spot thanks to a 3-1 win over Tarxien Rainbows in a match from the YoHealth Malta Premier Closing Round league phase at the National Stadium on Sunday.
The Citizens are now fifth on 16 points, one ahead of Naxxar Lions and three ahead of Sliema Wanderers. Therefore, a draw in their match against Marsaxlokk would be enough to secure a Top 6 spot. The Rainbows, on the other hand, remain second from bottom on 5 points, four behind Zabbar St. Patrick and four ahead of bottom-placed Mosta.
Yuri converted a penalty to put Valletta ahead on 28 minutes. Yannick Yankam doubled the score on 58 minutes and Ahmed Adebayo Basher made it 3-0 on 74 minutes. Marko Musulin pulled one back for Tarxien one minute from time.
