Tarxien Rainbows earned their first point in the YoHealth Malta Premier Closing Round after holding neighbours Hibernians 1-1 in the derby at the Tony Bezzina stadium on Saturday.
The Rainbows therefore abandoned the bottom spot after losing their first four matches to stop Hibernians from getting a fourth consecutive win. The Paolites now join Floriana and Gzira United on the 10-point mark but the latter two cross swords on Sunday morning.
Matthew Debattista put Hibernians ahead with a goal on 16 minutes but after being denied on at least three occasions by goalkeeper Laurentiu Branescu, Tarxien notched the equaliser courtesy of new signing Patrick Schmidt twelve minutes from time.
