Floriana returned to winning ways as they defeated Hibernians 4-1 in a match from the YoHealth Malta Premier Closing Round league phase at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Sunday.
The Greens extend their positive run with a sixth win eight matches and thanks to these three points they make sure of staying on top as they lie five points ahead of Hamrun Spartans and six ahead of Marsaxlokk as the latter two will be facing each other on Monday.
Hibernians, on the other hand, are now ninth on ten points, one behind Birkirakra and two behind sixth-placed Valletta and Sliema Wanderers.
Alen Kurtalic put the Greens ahead on 27 minutes but Cain Attard equalised five minutes later. Floriana regained the lead thanks to Federico Varela six minutes in the second half and the same player made it 3-1 on 68 minutes. Substitute Carlo Zammit Lonardelli added another two minutes from time.
