Sliema Wanderers returned to winning ways as they defeated Birkirkara 1-0 to register their first win in the YoHealth Malta Premier Closing Round Bottom 6 at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Tuesday.
The Wanderers therefore made sure of avoiding the bottom two places as they now lie ten points ahead of the second team from bottom. The Stripes, on the other hand, lie four points behind.
Steve Pisani scored the all-important goal beating goalkeeper Miguel Angel Martinez with a direct free kick eight minutes in the second half.
