Marsaxlokk FC filed a protest over the decisive goal scored in the YoHealth Malta Premier Finalissima against Floriana on Saturday.
The club argued that the goal goes against Law 15 of the Laws of the Game which state that a goal cannot be scored directly from a throw in. They added that in the several video clips at their disposal and the one at the disposal of the Malta FA shows clearly that the goal was scored directly from a throw-in.
Marsaxlokk believe that this incident led to the league to be awarded on the basis of serious sporting injustice and in violation of the fundamental rules of the game.
