Following reports concerning an alleged match-fixing attempt ahead of last Saturday’s FA Trophy Final, Valletta FC and Gżira United FC issued a joint-statement in which they confirmed that the matter was immediately reported to the Integrity Officer of the Malta Football Association upon the relevant information coming to the Clubs’ attention.
The investigations and actions subsequently undertaken by the competent authorities followed the joint report filed by both clubs.
Valletta FC and Gżira United FC stated that they maintain a clear and uncompromising position against any form of match manipulation, sports corruption, or conduct that threatens the integrity of football.
Both clubs will continue to fully support and cooperate with the relevant authorities throughout the ongoing investigation.
The two clubs added that given the ongoing proceedings, they will not be making any further comments at this stage.
