Hamrun Spartans secured the services of thirty year old Italian goalkeeper Gabriele Marchegiani.
A product of Roma, Marchegiani, who is the son of former Italy goalkeeper Luca Marchegiani, played for Pistoiese, SPAL, Gubbio, Novara, Ascoli, Potenza and Trento before moving to Greece where he played for Atromitos, Iraklis and Panthrakikos.
This summer, the Spartans, now led by coach Marco Amelia, signed Jake Grech, Ante Coric, Lucas Villela, Jack Ipalibo, Tobias Bjørnstad, Messie Biatoumoussoka and Saliou Thioune and renewed the contracts of Damir Ceter, Emerson Marcelina and Rafael Compri.
