Floriana protest not upheld — Hibernians file another protest

The Protests Board of the Malta Football Association did not uphold the protest filed by Floriana FC against the result of the FA Trophy quarter-final against Birkirkara. The result – a 2-0 win for Birkirkara – is therefore to stand.

Floriana had argued that a number of Birkirkara foreign players were not registered with the authorities responsible for their employment in Malta as required by MFA regulations.

Birkirkara are therefore confirmed as one of the four semi-finalists along with Balzan, Pembroke Athleta and Sliema Wanderers in the FA Trophy semi-finals draw which will be held on Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile earlier in the afternoon, Hibernians also lodged a protest against the result of the BOV Premier League match against Birkirkara which was played last Sunday. The 2-1 win for Birkirkara effectively meant that Valletta FC were declared champions.
