Floriana were held in a goalless draw by Balzan in a match from the 360Sports Malta Premier Closing Round at the National Stadium on Saturday.
A draw which puts the Greens temporarily on level points with leaders Hamrun Spartans before the latter’s clash with Melita later on Sunday. Balzan, on the other hand, earn another point following the win over Naxxar Lions in their previous outing.
Floriana went close with Matias Garcia heading just wide off a cross by Kouros on the half hour but by the end of the first half, Balzan had a Udoyen Akpan close range effort blocked by Mafoumbi and a powerful drive by the same forward was turned into a corner by the Floriana goalkeeper.
In the second half, Balzan goalkeeper Danilo Golovic performed a great save on a first-time effort by Elvis Mashike on 67 minutes and two minutes from time, the same player headed just over the bar off an inviting cross by Jake Grech.
