Floriana maintained their hundred percent record with a fourth win in as many matches, defeating Balzan 3-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.
Balzan, on the other hand, suffered their second defeat to fall six points behind the leaders.
Following a goalless first half, Floriana managed to take the lead on the 63rd minute when off a cross by Adam Magri Overend, Kemar Reid headed the ball home past goalkeeper Danilo Golovic.
The Greens doubled the score on the 77th minute when they were awarded a penalty after Matheus Souza was brought down inside the area by Momcilo Raso and from the penalty spot, Ulises Arias converted.
Five minutes from time, Floriana extended the lead further when Kemar Reid entered the area and squared low for substitute Mattia Veselji to slot the ball past the Balzan goalkeeper from close range.
Andre Prates was sent off for Balzan three minutes later after he brought down Dunstan Vella just outside the area. From the resulting freekick, a defender handled the ball inside the area and referee Ishmael Barbara ordered another penalty. However, Kemar Reid’s effort was neutralised by the Balzan custodian.
