Brazilian thirty-three year old forward Maxuell Maia da Silva joined Gzira United from Birkirkara.
Maxuell Samurai had moved to Malta in January 2020 but joined Sirens the following summer. However in January 2021, he signed for Gzira United where he spent two and a half years before joining Birkirkara in summer 2023.
In his native Brazil, Maxuell Maia played for Ferroviario, Palmeiras, Ceara, River, Uniclinic, Baraunas, Alagoano, Caldense, Treze and Sampaio Correa.
This season, Samurai finished as top-scorer in the 360Sports Malta Premier and was voted Best Foreign Player in the Malta FA Awards.
