Birkirkara secured the services of Brazilian thirty-one year old forward Maxuell Maia da Silva from Gzira United.

Maxuell Samurai had moved to Malta in January 2020 but joined Sirens the following summer. However in January 2021, he signed for Gzira United where he spent the last two and a half years.

In his native Brazil, Maxuell played for Ferroviario, Palmeiras, Ceara, River, Uniclinic, Baraunas, Alagoano, Caldense, Treze and Sampaio Correa.
