Floriana made it two wins in a row as they defeated Tarxien Rainbows 1-0 in a match from the YoHealth Malta Premier Opening Round at the Tony Bezzina Stadium on Saturday.
For the Rainbows, this was the first defeat after the 1-1 draw with Hamrun Spartans in their first outing.
Tarxien coach Jacques Scerri named an unchanged side while Floriana coach Daniel Portela opted for one change as he opted to start with Rui Areias instead of Mustapha Jah.
Floriana scored the all-important goal on 35 minutes when off an assist by Chico Teixeira from the right, Rui Areias flicked the ball past goalkeeper Andrea Cassar.
Four minutes in added time, the Greens ended in ten men after Zach Scerri was sent off for a dangerous tackle on an opponent.
