Hamrun Spartans registered their first win as goals by two substitutes handed them a 2-0 win over Mosta in a match from the YoHealth Malta Premier Opening Round at the National Stadium on Saturday.
The Spartans join Valletta in third place on the five-point mark, one behind Marsaxlokk and two behind leaders Floriana.
Mosta, on the other hand, remain on three points as they suffered a second defeat in three matches.
Following a goalless first half, the Spartans managed to take the lead on 49 minutes when a cross by Thioune created havoc inside the area and Joseph Mbong placed the ball at the back of the net.
Hamrun doubled the score ten minutes from time courtesy of Mouad El Fanis who hit home after Semir Smajlagic hit the crossbar with a header.
