Zabbar St. Patrick registered their first win in the YoHealth Malta Premier Opening Round league phase as they defeated Gzira United 2-0 at the Centenary Stadium on Sunday.
A win which lifts the Saints to the eighth place on six points. On the other hand, the Maroons remain second from bottom on three points but bottom-placed Naxxar Lions have a game in hand.
Zabbar managed to take the lead on 14 minutes when Zean Leonardi concluded a good run with a shot which was not held by goalkeeper Karl Sargent.
Thirteen minutes from time, the Saints doubled the score when they were awarded a penalty after Mario Fontanella was brought down inside the area and Brian Gambarte converted from the penalty spot.
