Futsal: UM continue to lead the way

During a week in which the women’s league was on pause, the men’s futsal championship continued, leaving us with a very intriguing standings table. University of Malta Futsal strengthened their position at the top after a large win, while the teams behind them remain close.

University of Malta defeated Żejtun Corinthians Futsal WA with a 12-2 victory, a result that prevented Żejtun from moving closer to the top positions, while the University secured an important and small advantage at the summit.

Futsal Selection U19 earned their first points of the season after beating Futsal Selection U17 by 4-0, with the U17 side remaining the only team still without points.

In the week’s other match, Marsaskala Futsal Legends beat GZR Birżebbuġa St. Peter’s Futsal 7-4, with Karl Luke Schembri shining as he scored six goals for Marsaskala. This win allowed Marsaskala to draw level with Birżebbuġa in second place, although Birżebbuġa have a game in hand, and both remain three points behind the University of Malta.

Marsaskala Futsal Legends also have 12 points, earned across 6 matches. Behind them are Luxol St. Andrews Futsal with 9 points from 3 matches, together with Żejtun Corinthians Futsal WA who have 9 points from 5 matches. Sliema Futsal Fort Fitness follow with 4 points from 4 matches, while Futsal Selection U19 have 3 points from 5 matches. Santa Venera Lightnings Futsal have 1 point from 5 matches, and at the bottom, Futsal Selection U17 remain without points after 5 matches.
