Floriana missed out on the top spot in the YoHealth Malta Premier Opening Round Top 6 after they were held in a goalless draw by eternal rivals Valletta at the National Stadium on Saturday.
The Greens, therefore, have to settle for second place behind Hamrun Spartans and hopefully a place in the Final Four unless the Spartans win the Closing Round which would crown the latter as champions. Valletta, on the other hand, finish third.
Things seemed heading in the right direction for the Greens as Valletta were reduced to ten men on 13 minutes after having new signing Diogo Tavares sent off.
However, Floriana failed to take advantage of this dismissal and twelve minutes in the second half they also ended in ten men as Charles M’Mombwa was also sent off.
